Teaching Percussion through Percussion Ensemble
Percussion Ensemble Teaching Sheets

Percussion ensemble literature is an ideal resource for demonstrating and applying musical and technical concepts with percussion students.  Using this medium, directors can address instrument specific techniques, discuss stylistic elements, and rehearse ensemble balance and musical awareness, all while challenging percussion students in an ensemble environment where they function in primary, not just supportive, musical roles.  The teaching sheets below provide specific information about each piece including duration, difficulty, program notes, formal structure, and musical and technical considerations. In addition, the second page of each sheet addresses three possible teaching points that can be used by directors and percussion instructors to address specific concepts with their percussion students.
